i think i get what the girl means.
----------------------
mercy killing.
or, maybe the patient is at the final stage and drugs and treatment no longer prove to be effective, so he stops taking them.
i used to think it is acceptable. i used to think that if the patient is unconscious and is feeling extremely terrible, it is okay and better that the doctor performs the act on him. i used to believe in the 'better short suffering than long suffering'. i used to not understand why family mambers make a big fuss when the doctor suggests mercy killing to them. i used to think they are being mean and cruel to the patient. i used to think it's better to live shorter than live longer but more miserable.
but today, i realise it's not easy.
what if the patient is still struggling to live? what if he still wants to live? is mercy killing still an option? is giving up on treatment an option?
no.
maybe the family members are being selfish. but there is still so many things left unseen and unexplored.their tiffanys and america, haagan dazs and intercontinental hotel restuarant, their child/grandchild 's university graduation and wedding ceremony. so many more.
giving up is not a option. not when the patient still wants to live.
